Frequently Asked Questions’s

How do I get started?

You can get started immediately by giving us a valid e-mail address.

How are bets decided?  Who determines the outcome?

Bets are decided by both members voting.  Disputed bets will be voted on by other uBetWhat?! Members. Both parties will be given the opportunity to present their evidence.

What am I allowed to bet on?

You can post a bet on almost anything and everything you want to. If you think there is enough interest, post the bet.

How do I post a new bet?

For a Fun Bet: determine how many Fun Tokens you are willing to risk. Fun bets have no value and you earn new Fun Tokens every month.

Describe the bet: In each case, you describe the premise of your bet, including any dates and information to clarify the terms of your bet. The details must be very specific to avoid an ambiguous interpretation.

For example: I bet it will rain in New York City on January 13th, 2008 at 12Noon, EST

Determine the closing date for taking bets: Members are allowed to bet against you up until specified date. However, as the originator of the bet, you can close it at any time.

How do I take a bet?

Click the Bet Against button and enter the amount you want to bet. If your bet is accepted, you will be sent an email to confirm.

What if I have a question or comment about a bet?

If the terms of the bet are unclear, you can click a reply button and ask for clarification. You can also just make comments for the fun of it.

How do I settle a bet?

After a winner is declared, we automatically settle the bet and the FT scores are updated in both accounts.

What are Fun-Tokens?

Fun-Tokens are like points; they have no value and are a fun way to keep score. Every member starts off with 1000 Fun-Tokens. Active members earn 1000 new FTs every month, plus you earn FTs every time you post a bet or make a comment.

You can bet any number of FTs that you want. If you lose more FTs than you have, your account will become negative until you earn more.
